BIOGRAPHY: Nancy Ramos

Nancy Ramos began her career as an educator of Mathematics in 1978. In 1990, she became the assistant principal of Prall Intermediate School, moving into the principal position in 1996. From 1997 to 2000, she served as the principal of the Bernstein Intermediate school system and then the Deputy Superintendent of Community School District 31 from 2000 to 2003. She was appointed Community Superintendent for District 31 by Chancellor Joel Klein on July 1, 2004, and in her 32 years of employment in the New York City Department of Education she was awarded the Louis DeSario Educator of the Year Award from United Activities Unlimited, the Community Board 1 Educator of the Year Award, and the New York Urban League (Staten Island Branch) Education Award, among other personal and professional achievements. Nancy has been the CEI-PEA Network Leader for 19 NYC Department of Education schools since July 2007.
