Gayla Kornbluh, Grade 7
CEI-PEA is currently developing a Financial Literacy Program for public schools that is designed to build the capacity of middle and high school students to understand and direct their personal finances. Unlike other financial literacy programs targeted at adults, this program focuses in on the three most critical elements for young people:
Students participate in 20 class periods when this content will be taught at participating schools. The curriculum guide will include enough content background to enable the teaching of basic economic concepts (e.g., scarcity, opportunity cost, trade-offs, incentives, cost/benefit analysis, etc.), along with the use of the economic decision-making model.
CEI-PEA has completed development of the high school curriculum and is currently working on the middle school curriculum.
